Automating Personnel Number in HRMS

Dear Consultants

Can anybody advice if the personnel ID can be automated in DAX 365. At the moment its manual in my environment.

    Hi praveens007,

    Ideally personnel number should be set as Manual.

    Why because every employee must have different number (Employee ID) and this is not mandatory that company will create all number sequentially. Therefore keep the number sequence manual for this.

    But remember; once you create a new personnel ID and save the data in form; system will not allow you to edit. This is I am saying in context of D365. You may check if in AX, it is allowing you to edit personnel ID after saved the data or not.

    Dear Saurav,

    Thanks for the response. But not convinced. I would still need an automated number sequence for Personal ID due to different HR team creating Personal ID. The manual process of sequencing it is a task.

    Hi praveens007,

    You can then set the number sequence 'Continuous' to avoid any additional task to be performed by the users.

    In D365, there are 2 parameter forms available like 'Human resources parameter' and 'Human resources shared parameters'. You have to check in shared parameter form. In number sequence area, you will find the reference 'Personnel number'.

    Not sure whether similar 2 parameter forms are there in AX or only 1 parameter form is available.

    hi there, i have a similar request, how did you automate the employee numbers, I need to test and setup a similar process for new joiners to auto-generate the next employee number in HR. can you share how you managed to get it working

    Hi Ramon Lipparoni,

    You must go to Human resources shared parameters-> Number sequence-> Choose Reference: Personnel number and perform below actions which you would like to.

    1. You must setup number sequence code to automate Personnel number.

    2. If you would like to be set Personnel number user choice or customized you can remove number sequence code.
