We have a client who is on GP 2016 and have an active BREP. They have been inquiring on the migration to GP. One of the key modules they are using in GP is HR & Payroll (US Payroll). What I would like to know is if we are to migrate the client to Business Central will they have all the functionality they currently have in GP. From my little research I have done on Business Central I don't remember seeing an HR & Payroll Module.
Is there any comprehensive test on the migration from GP to Business Central so we can do a proper analysis on what will be gained and what would be lost along the transition.
There isn't a straight migration path from GP to Business Central. What you will find however is, Intelligent Cloud is able to get you basic beginning balances for accounts, customers, and vendors, and some transaction history, but not into the BC tables as the way both systems approach storing transactions is very different. There are payroll solutions available for Business Central, i.e., NaviPayroll but none that would allow you to import data from GP.
As there's no straight migration path between the two systems, so I am not sure you will get anything in the form of a comprehensive test migration plan. You may want to rely on other experienced partners out there with expertise on the two systems to assist you.
