MS Outlook email issue

Hi,

We have a client who has recently upgraded to MS Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 and they access this via Citrix servers running MS Windows 2003 SP2  / Citrix PS4.0.

Using CodeUnit 397 to send a test email works the first time. However looking at session processes shows that OUTLOOK.EXE has opened in the "background" (ie you can't see it from the user session) and this stays open even if you exit Navision. If you try to send another message with this hidden copy of MS Outlook running then a "run time 91" error occurs, no email is sent, and the Navision client seems to lock up.

Any pointers?

David

Why not use codeunit 400 instead?

    Thats SMTP mail right?

I'm not the Navision integrator but am helping them with this issue. They have said they are using Outlook automation so the end user can see the emails in the Outlook sent items folder.

Could you give me a brief benefits / disadvantages of using each method? We are thinking that unless they can resolve this issue then moving to SMTP may be a good idea.
