I upgraded the system from CU8 to Cu10

I have read somewhere if you are upgrading from R3 RTM your version will end in 111, if you ugrading from any cumulative update it will be 110. If that was the case which is ok to have different version

(There is another problem which my client (win 7) application version (6.3.3000.111) not able to connect. Its giving the common error "The server is unavailable. Check your configuration and network connection and try again"

Please suggest due to this my client giving this error or it could be some other reason.

    Hi Mahamed,

There is indeed a difference between kernel and application. This is no problem. You have to ensure all kernel software like server and clients are the same. It is possible to install newer kernels on a current application version (for the same AX release).

If the client cannot connect, please make sure the AOS service is started and the client configuration is setup correctly.

I tested an upgrade from CU9 to CU10 this week which did not have any problems.

Andre thanks for your reply, So I am facing the issue with some network connectivity probably. Because the client we are implementing is a public sector with secure connections.

I could able to ping the server, I checked the configurations and services everything. But I am getting the error server unable to reach. For testing the connection I took the EP portal page URL and put it in client machine but it couldn't reach the server.

I switched off the firewalls also, (AOS server running on VMware virtual machine inside the domain).

What could be the issue. I am not getting any Event logs from both the machines. How can I troubleshoot.

You can first try to open AX locally on the server. Then you know for sure the AOS is running correctly.

Besides not running service, wrong client configuration or firewalls/proxy, I can't think of other possible issues. Is it all running.in the same environment/domain?

yes everything running on same domain. I can able to open the AX locally on the server. It could be a firewall issue. But my intention is to show the client what could be an issue to them, like troubleshooting or showing some logs to them. so that they can better understand that its not related to application.

I'm not familiar with monitoring network traffic. Probably you can use Fiddler or SysInternals. Probably also a virus scanner could block something?

I upgraded from CU9 to CU10 and it went smooth. Please confirm whether you got some object conflicts during the install.

Thanks for your insight. Issue related to network, finally we narrowed it down to port. Now its resolved.

We have downloaded the binary update for upgrading from CU8 to CU10 and this takes our Kernel to 6.3.3000.111.  If we update our clients using same process, we get same version.  We are looking to script this and are looking for just he msi client update or install for 6.3.3000.111.  So far unable to locate.  Can someone direct me to correct place.  Unable to find different versions or installs for this application in LCS.  Thanks -Scott
