Vehicle tracking

Hi all

can anyone guide me with some information regarding a problem I have? I have a fleet of vehicles and I need to track there license disk renewals as well as their insurance information and motor plan schedules I was told that Field services can not do this, is it true and if so must I rather look at an off the shelf product to manage this information. I know I can manage the asset in Fixed assets, but the rest is what I need

I have the same question (0)

Is the system's main purpose to track the vehicles or are these vehicles associated to technicians and you manage a field service business?

Hi Alexander, thanks for the insight. You are correct . The issue i currently have is i have a company who has a fleet of vehicles that are company assests , managed and serviced by the company but are operated on a driver level. So they need to track the usage of these vehicles. They have a 3rd party application that records daily use , milage , trip locations and fares, however they require the ability to integrate the milage into D365 FS. As well as maintain the vehiles information matched to the driver , the insurabce on that vehicle, its service history and when it would be due for its next service. As well as manage the year licencing of these vehicle by the department of transport to ensure they have valid disks to operate on the roads

I think you should elaborate on what you actually want to track. As Thomas mentioned you could use warehouse, the primary purpose of the warehouse though is to keep track of inventory, thus the suggestion of making it an asset. You could also capture vehicles as resources of type equipment. In both cases bookings can be generated for license renewals, but what is a motor plan schedule?

i never thought of that. Other people have said that it cant be tracked within FS and would have to be customer dev or better yet a app off the catalogue.. I need to have a solution fit , i dont want to buy more product if i can get  FS to actually manage my vehicles

I assume you have warehouse records for all of your vehicles?

You could just make your vehicle warehouse an asset and create an Agreement.

Within the Agreement you can create an Agreement Booking setup and set a schedule to create bookings or 'reminders' to renew the license disk or insurance details for that particular Asset (Van)
