I'm having an issue when syncing records from D365 CRM to Business Central. This is for our entities in the Netherlands and Belgium. When the VAT registration number is on a record our Netherlands environment returns the message, "The record is not open" and fails to sync the data. Belgium has some other issues with the VAT format, but really just more concerned about how to go about troubleshooting the other error message. I've looked at the VAT/VIES formatting in our Netherlands environment and can't seem to figure out what might be going wrong here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    This error usually occurs when you try to modify a record directly without using GET or FINDFIRST/FINDSET while using the Web services API.

    Also check if the extension which you are using has this boolean enabled

    We're seeing a very similar issue in Sweden and Denmark, since April 13th.
    Via the API, we try to register new customers, and if we provide the field 'taxRegistrationNumber', they fail to be created. We have not seen issues with getting "The record is not open" previously.

    We are also seeing the same issue in Sweden, using a standard endpoint, not an extension. And according to the telemetry, the error originates at StackTrace: Customer(Table 18).VATRegistrationValidation line 28 - Base Application by Microsoft Customer(Table 18)."VAT Registration No. - OnValidate"(Trigger) line 11 - Base Application by Microsoft "APIV2 - Customers"(Page 30009)."taxRegistrationNumber - OnValidate"(Trigger) line 14 - _Exclude_APIV2_ by Microsoft
     
    So it seems to me like Microsoft has rolled out a slightly broken update?
