Hi all

Completly new to Dynamics AX, so after a bit of help

I'm hoping there is a way to export data to an excel sheet / file, currently we have loads of purchase orders outstanding and i would likwe to be able to export that information, out into excel so as to do performance measures / chasing etc

Can this be done? if so can someone please advise how

    First:

Install Excel (XP, 2003, 2007) on the client PC, where AX is installed and you want to make the export.

    Two options:

    - Open the purchase table and click on the excel icon near in the icon bar top of the table window it is possible to set filters before. For positions you need to use the inquiry "open purchase order lines" under Account payables/Inquiries/Order status.

     - under Administration/Periodic/Excel spreadsheets you find the Excel template wizard which helps you to make an Excel import/export definitiongroup. It is possible to add more than one table to the groups (purchtable and purchline for example). I don't know how to set filters here.

    Thank you

    We are using AX 4.0,

Where would the tables be held?

We have AX 2009. Don't know if it was the same in 4.0.

purchtable is in forms or common forms under Accounts payables, name is purchase order details

If you don#t have the icon you can also try to mark the rows in the grid of the table and copy them with ctrl-c

    Hi Shane,

Basically in 4.0 I believe the only way to easily (without some X++ coding) export info from AX into an excel spreadsheet is to use document handling if you have the licence key that is, if you do then post a reply and I'll try and explain what you could do.

Thank you for having a look

If you look on say Purchase Order form. When it is open look into the top tool bar and see if there is an icon (possibly greyed out) of a portrait sheet of paper with a box to the bottom right. This is the document handling icon which would indicate if it is enabled on your implementation.

Hi Shane, the fastest way is to use the Excel Export Import functionality of AX suggested above in a previous post, in your case you can also use the wizard that helps creating Export/Import templates. Can you see if you have access to the Administration menu? Regards.
