Create a vendor from a contact without a company name

I am setting up NAV for our Non-profit organisation.  We deal with a lot of individuals as vendors and customers and I have setup a contact for an individual person, but when I click on "Create As" -- "Vendor" is asks me for a "company name" that is already in the database or has to be setup.

How can I get by this without having to create a company?

I just want the person to be the vendor.

    Hi,

When you create the "Contact", you need to select the "Type" as "Company", then system will allow to create the "Contact" as Vendor by clicking on "Create As" - "Vendor".

    Please try the above.

    Hi,

As suggested, did you try changing the "Type" as "Company" and click on "Create As" -> "Vendor"?

    Best Regards,

Hi Mahesh,  Thanks for your response.

Selecting the type as Company - The only issue with this is that you cannot then utilize "First Name" and "Last Name" which are valid for 'Persons'.  This information then has to pass to a CRM application so I find it incongruous that you can't have a vendor who is a person.

    Cheers, SergeiJ

    Hi,

If that's the case, you need to create one dummy company and for all the contacts you create, you need to select that dummy company in the "Company No." field and proceed.

    Or

You need to modify the code to stop the validation of "Company No.".

    Best Regards,

    Mahesh

Thanks Mahesh.  I like the option of stopping the validation of Company No.

I will talk to my consultants.  Cheers,

We normally try to resolve using the standard ways instead of customization, so I suggested the first option too.

    Could you verify the solution?
