Transfer Existing Item History - Sales Inventory Item to Kit Item

Hey!

We are attempting to incorporate kits into our inventory system. As I understand, we will need to create new items which will be set up as Kit items...

Currently we have items which have sales/purchase history, information we would like to retain, but which need to be converted into a kit item.

Can anyone please advise on how to either convert an existing Sales Inventory item into a Kit item (which I do not believe is possibly using my setup) or how to transfer historical sales/purchase data from a Sales Inventory item to a new item (Kit item).

Thank you in advance for your help! :)

Regards,

Omar

    Hi Omar,

    This is a bit cavalier, but if I really, really needed this to happen I would take to the SQL tables. First step is to make sure that you do not have any quantity in inventory, on unposted SOP Documents, any Open Purchase Orders, as a component in a Bill of Materials, etc.

    Once you've cleaned up any outstanding threads, change these items in the IV00101 table (the item master)

    ITEMTYPE = 3

    VCTNMTHD = 0

    ALWBKORD = 0

    If you are going to do this, the usual warnings apply: BACKUP and TEST TEST TEST. Be sure to test your HITB reports and any other inventory reports you rely on to make sure the data is acceptable.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
