Update data in production environment

Hi All

I have a requirement to update a filed value in the sales and marketing module in D365 FO. Usually through Open in Excel utility ,used to update. But the particular filed ,am unable to update through the utility

I am trying to update a prospect --> Type ID -->from Customer Pros to Customer. When I am trying to do that, I get following error message.

Cannot create prospect of type customer or vendor directly.

Please assist in providing scripts for to update manually through code.

Hi Ludwig. I need to update Type ID since the customer is created already. Later a prospect was created. I managed to link prospect to the existing customer. But since we assume it as converted customer, need to change the Type ID as Customer. Its for around 5 records. Is it possible to write a script to update the same.

Hi Heshu,

There is a manual workaround possible.

Delete the prospects which are wrong (only 5). The customers will remain in the system. Repeat the next steps for each prospect.

Create a dummy prospect. Then convert this dummy to a customer. When it is a customer, on the prospect, change the party association to the party linked to the real customer. Then you can delete the dummy customer. In this way, the type is 'Customer' on the prospect.

Thank you for the workaround. But we have an integrated solution where we can delete the prospect. So that's why need to update on the same prospect.

In that case, you have to go for a customization or runnable class to correct the data. Check the standard process for converting the prospect to a customer, so you don't miss anything to prevent data corruption.
