Active Period for Batch Jobs - How can I correct an incorrectly set-up default active period

Hi

I have recently been reviewing the various system batch jobs within my organisations implementation of D365 Finance. The purpose being to make sure that we are running all the necessary system clean-up housekeeping jobs at an appropriate frequency and time (so for example checking that jobs that should be run out of hours are being run out of hours and not in the middle of the day).  In the process of doing this I discovered that the default active period that is associated with all these jobs is not correct.  I was expecting the active from time to be 12:00:00 AM and the active to time to be 11:59:59PM instead this has somehow been created with a from time of 10:00AM and a to time of 10:59PM which makes very little sense.

My question is how do I correct this when I cannot update or delete the default definition? See screen shots below

If I try to change the times

If I try to delete the default definition

cannot-delete-default-period-2020_2D00_06_2D00_11-122720.png

I can't delete the dependant batch jobs because that would mean deleting every batch job  and some of the system batch jobs I am fairly sure cannot be deleted. The only solution I can see is to create a alternative default active period called Default, to use on jobs that I do not want to apply any active period restriction.  Unless any one can suggest a better solution?

Thanks in advance

    Hi Simon,

If you want to change the periods, you need to add new records. The current record you try to change is intended as a fallback when there is no setup of the batch jobs.

    Hi Rahul

Thanks for your prompt reply.  If I understand your reply correctly,  I cannot control active periods for system jobs which makes sense?  But my question is how can I correct the default active period for use with non-system batch jobs if it has been created with incorrect times?

    Best regards

    Hi Andre

Thanks for replying to my question.  I do understand that it is a fallback, but the way this default is set up currently is not a helpful fallback with the way the times have been set-up . I am not sure how the default could have been created with these times 10:00AM to 9:59:59AM which to me says no active time?  If I cannot change this to 12:00:00AM to 11:59:59PM then I will have to create a new default definition with a name rather than a blank name.

    Best regards

    Hi Simon,

The time from 10:00:00AM to 9:59:59AM is 24 hours and is same as 12:00:00AM to 11:59:59PM.

If you think that it must be changed, please try to change it directly on the DataBase, before do it, test it first.

Thanks MATTGUO that makes perfect sense, it just those times appear strange but I can live without changing them.

    Best regards

    Simon
