Hello,

My team and I are new to D365, upgrading from the AX 2012. Currently we are doing test script in which we are updating our Financial Dimensions. In our to do this I need to make some inactive or delete them from the system. When I try to delete I get the error below, which is why I just want to make it inactive. For some reason I seem to be block from doing this.

How do you make a dimension inactive?

Any assistance would be wonderful.

    Hello Nicolas,

I would recommend inactivating the findim. You won't be able to delete it if there are transactions recorded for it and inactivating it does not do any harm but gives you the chance to activate it once again if needed in the future.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thank You Ludwig. Do you know how to assign them to be inactive. I don't seem to have an option for it. Usually I would expect to see an option next to "New". Here is what I am seeing.

    Hi Nic Crawford,

You should have Admin rights and will have to enable maintenance mode from LCS to activate/Inactive Findim.

    Hi Nic,

Please click the dimension values button.

This opens a new form that lists the different findims.

    In your case business areas.

In this form you can set an active from and to data or suspend the individual findims.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Nicolas,

If you are upgrading from AX 2012 and want to change the setup on dimension or other finance related settings, you can consider another type of data upgrade. If you need the historical values in your opening balance, then you have to go for the deactivation; otherwise consider the next idea.

You can copy the setup and master data; then make changes to the dimension setup and then import opening balances.
