Purchase Lead time with internal inspection time - MRP

Hi All

On some of our items we have a purchase lead time as well as an internal inspection lead time.  We do not want to include the inspection lead time in the actual purchase lead time as this will inflate the lead time / delivery date pass on to our supplier (when run through MRP).

Is there any other way that the inspection lead time can be entered besides to include it into the actual purchase lead time for the product?

Eddie

That seems like a good application for either a Receipt margin or Issue margin.  The Issue margin should back off the Requirement date on the Sales order, and then the Planned purchase order should use that new date for its Requirement date, and generate the order date accordingly.  Also try it with the Receipt margin, just to see the minor difference in how it works.

Thanks Brandon. Will have a look. I always thought that these margins just adds to the specified lead times.

    Hi there,

the answer you received earlier is absolutely on the point in my eyes, although I'd like to add one thing.

If you've set up a coverage group with any of those margins, you will notice an effect on your net requirements - as soon as a quality order has been issued, MRP will plan accordingly. What I want to say is that it schedules the replenishment, as you might see the in my below screenshot of net requirements of an accordingly set up item (receipt margin = 4 days, the remaining offset is due to Holidays in Germany).

    2018_2D00_06_2D00_25-08_5F00_35_5F00_53_2D002A20_Net-requirements_2C00_-schedule-DynaPlan_2C00_-Site_5F00_Hilzingen_2C00_-Sorting_5F00_-Requirement-date_2C20_.png

In general, this is working properly – at least if you expect the amount in quality orders to pass. The issue comes up, if the quality test is failed. Since MRP assumes the replenishment, of course you don’t get a new planned order until the quality order is closed.
