MPOS Installation on Windows Mobile for AX7 CTP8

Hi All,

Can the MPOS in AX7 CTP8 be deployed on windows mobile?

AFAIK the Retail SDK Code is based on 8.1 so a separate code base will be needed for mobile as the universal app concept was introduced in Win 10. Will be great if someone can throw more light on this aspect.

Regards

Hitesh

    Hi Hitesh,

According to the help, the next operating systems are supported:

    - Windows 8.1 Update 1 Pro or Enterprise edition (both x86 and x64 architectures). Standard edition isn’t supported.

    - Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise edition (both x86 and x64 architectures).

    - Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Hi Hitesh,

If it is not mentioned, I assume it is not supported. The list with supported operating systems seems to be clear to me. Are you trying to run MPOS on a phone? What would be the purpose for that?

    Hi André,

Yes I was trying to see if we can run MPOS on phone, I guess based on your response i can conclude its not supported, I guess Cloud POS is the way to go on phones.

    Regards

    Hi Hitesh,

Possibly the resolution of a phone would not be recommended to use. Also not for CloudPOS. It would be interesting to be able to support mobile POS solutions. I can think of some scenarios like selling products at homes or on an event. But then probably workstations or laptops would be a solution as well.

Am reopening this question because I have seen a Tech Conference presentation in which mentions MPOS on Windows Phone. I am assuming that this means we can have it as an application on Windows Phone. Is that true?

Modern POS and mobile pos are different clients, I can see a client in ax 2012 r3 Cu8 version, source code only, never succeed in compiling this into running version.

    >... I have seen a Tech Conference presentation in which mentions MPOS on Windows Phone ...

Could you please tell me the slide/video name and number of minutes I should "fast forward" to see that?

    >... Modern POS and mobile pos are different clients ...

Could you please provide more details on what exactly you meant (be very specific please) by saying that?

    Hello Sergey,

Thanks for your reply, the slide No. is 25 from the presentation I am referring to is "Delivering next generation POS clients, immersive mobile experiences, and more (BSAX65)". from Tech Conference 2015 https://mbs.microsoft.com/Files/customer/AX/Downloads/15TechConference/BSAX65_Rathinavelu_v06.pptx

Corresponding video is http://mediadl.microsoft.com/mediadl/www/d/dynamics/partners/BSAX65.wmv and the minutes referring to this slide is 51-56. I understand that the MPOS for Windows Phone was Beta upto this point, so I wanted to understand if we currently can deploy MPOS on Windows Phone.

    Regards

    Hitesh

The speaker said it was Beta and only "exists" in form of source code in the SDK. Taking all that into account, to me it doesn't look like it is officially available or available for production.
