Purchase order receipts list and product receipt

Hi All,

when we create receipts list and product receipt in the purchase order.

is there any relation between receipts list and product receipt? if not, then what is the purpose to create receipts list? if there is a relation between them then how to find which product receipts created from which receipts list ?

Is receipts list maintaining in inventory transaction? if Yes then when?

can we create product receipt from receipts list?

can any one please help me out.

    Hi Jignesh,

    The receipt list is a reference document which has no transnational effects. Also receipt list is not connected to product receipt in any way that system links them. Companies which need a physical document enabling there users to compare incoming items use the document.

    Its a document used enable workers to see all the information of the items on the purchase order and compare that with the incoming vendor invoice. Some companies use receipt list printing at the premise entry gate which is later validated by warehouse workers.

    In one of the cases a company wrongly received items as the workers were using vendor invoices to receive items and the vendor invoice was printed with external item number of the vendor instead of the company items number. (As vendor is not going to number the same item as you do in your company) but as you store the external vendor item number you can print it on receipt list.

    So later receipt list was customized to print the external item along with the item number now enabling the workers to compare perfectly the vendor item numbers also. I have seen another so many productive ways where receipt list worked as a reference document.

    So its a physical document used as a proof of receipt being checked by someone in the company before company does registration or post the product receipt of the purchase order.

    Hi Jignesh,

    There is no relation as such between receipt list and product receipt and You are right that after posting the receipt list, the inventory transactions remain as it was before. It means there is no impact on inventory transactions after receipt list posting.

    Also while posting the product receipt if you select 'Receive now' then you need to enter receive now quantity manually and it doesn't flow automatically.

    So receipt list is just for cross verification purpose for warehouse guys and no impact as such on product receipt.

    Other experts can enlighten us if require.

    after posting receipts list it will maintain inventory transaction, but there there any relation between receipts list and product receipt ?

    While posting product receipts if we have filled quantity in "receive now" field then while  posting product receipt we will select "Receive now quantity" is OK.

    but there is any relation between receipts list and product receipt ?

    Hi Jignesh,
    Receipt list is just a list for warehouse guys to know what items and quantity they are going to receive from the vendor. It has no transactional impact as like product receipt. It is used to cross verify the quantity which is supposed to receive with actual receipt for the items from the particular vendor.

    Try posting the receipt list  and check the inventory transactions to know the impact. Do the same thing for product receipt as well.

    Also we cannot create product receipt from receipt list. when you post the product receipt following options are available in quantity field for posting.

    Hi Jignesh,

    The receipt list is usually used in a warehouse. They can indicate how many items had been received. You can then do some quality checks or other actions before posting the product receipt and then with this action take ownership of the items.

    The receipt list is updating the inventory transactions, but with a lower status compared to the product receipt. It is possible to maintain product receipts based on entered quantities on the receipt list.
