Customer Statement report - Posting date not displaying in preview mode

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Dear NAV Community,

Problem

In Report 116 the posting date is not displaying in preview mode, but when the report is printed or saved as a Pdf the posting date is displayed (see screenshot below). I have tested this report object in database backup on my own VMWare Workstation with several different user IDs (including the user who is having the problem) and the report displayed correctly with no problem.

Background Information

The customer was upgraded recently from NAV 2015 to NAV 2016. The user told me that the report worked correctly before the upgrade but did not work correctly after the upgrade. We have already repaired NAV client, but this did not help the issue, so in my idea it is definitely not a problem with the object, but a problem with the user's PC.

Also another funny detail (just FYI) is that in the page action and MenuSuite the RunPageObject property was set to run a codeunit with a similar name (can't remember which one) instead of report object 116 (the merge cmdlet seemed to not work correctly in this instance). It was kind of weird that this is the only known issue we have had with the standard PowerShell cmdlets in development shell.

This is just a weird issue... I wonder if anyone else has ever faced it before...?

    Hi Theodore,

What I can understand is, you got the data, but not showing up on the preview mode.

To check whether you got the data, you can go to Report Preview ->Help -> About This Report and check you actually got the data from the dataitems.

If you confirm that you have the data from there, check the layout, especially the tablix/textbox visibility properties. Also the margins and report sizings.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,

Follow below blog post to see is Posting Date actually populate data to your report dataset.

    tharangac-dynamicsnav.blogspot.com/.../export-report-dataset-to-excel-xml-or.html

If the data is been populated properly then check for the report layout.

    acc. report: check visibility settings

acc. upgrade/merge: did you check the upgrade logs (diffs)?

acc user pc: does the report issue also occur on other workstations? if no remove nav client on that pc and reinstall. also remove user metadata (maybe thats the main issue).

Try running Table 2000000080 "Page Data Personalization", check are there any settings for the user, try deleting them and check if the issue appears. Try also cleaning ZUP file for the user.

    Dear Nareshwar,

Thanks for your suggestion. I have clicked About This Report, and yet the data is showing in this view.

I checked the visibility properties for the tablix and the textbox and they are set to Show.

I assume think the margins doesn't have anything to do with it, because when I sign in on a different machine with this user then the report runs fine. Also, this issue happens only for one user.

    Dear Alexander,

I ran table 2000000080 "Page Data Personalization" and deleted all of the records for the affected user for report 116, but this did not solve the issue. Also, I could not find a zup file for this user. Either I was looking in the wrong place or there isn't a zup file.

I looked for the zup file in the <User Name>/AppData/Roaming directory there was no zup file there. I also checked the <User Name>/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Microsoft Dynamics NAV folders and there is no zup file. My assumption is that there is no zup file because the development environment is not installed on the users PC.

I am not 100% sure how to remove user metadata (I have already removed from Table 2000000080 "Page Data Personalization"), but this did not help.

Please note that this issue is only affecting one user and only when they login from one specific machine. It does not affect them when they login using a different machine.

    Dear Jonathan,

The only upgrade delta that I could see was that EvaluationMode="Auto" was added in in what seems to be every RDLC Value element including the affected one (this post describes behavior).
    Regards,

    Ted

By the way, the problem still happens even if I import the standard NAV report 116 object.

Try deleting PersonalizationStore.xml located at ***\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV
