Hi All,

so i have created a new self hosted D365 Build machine which i need to utilize instead of the Microsoft build agents,
the build VM was created with default settings.
my question is in order to use it for build and package creation from Devops, what do i know to do more than installing the agent pool on this VM, and do the mapping of the workspace from the VS to the Devops ?

Thank you,
I have the same question (0)

Doesn't a VM with "Build and Test" topology come with the build agent already installed?

Don't set up a workspace on the build machine - the mapping is done in the build pipeline itself. A single build machine can be used by several different pipelines and therefore it can use several different workspace mappings. Ideally, don't touch VS there at all.

    thanks a lot Martin,

sorry i have little knowledge in builds and Devops..
so all i need to do is to configure the build pipeline and i do not have to touch the Build machine.

    Thank you,

Yes, you usually don't need to do anything, because the build agent is already there and configured according to the setup in LCS.

Note that (unlike with the Microsoft hosted agent) you're responsible for maintaining the VM, such as installing updates of Windows and F&O.

Which agent pool will be used by a pipelines is a property of the pipeline. Go to your pipeline, open it for editing and look at Agent pool property.
