Can we sell raw components in lou of Kit or Product variant?

Hey,

My company wants to sell product bundles and needs to get this going asap. We aren't able to invest the time to get Kits or Product variants started. They want to know if we can add the raw product components on the sales order and then use a packing slip note or something to tie out what was actually sold. I don't think is a good idea for many reasons including losing easy visibility into what was actually sold via reports, etc. What other issues could pop up from doing it this way?

Example:

Instead of having PRODUCT#1 as a BOM with component ITEM#1, ITEM#2, ITEM#3 on it's BOM. They want to add ITEM#1, ITEM#2, ITEM#3 directly to the sales order lines. Then using a note field to capture what product was actually sold since ITEM#1, ITEM#2, ITEM#3 won't tell them at a glance.

Thanks!

I have the same question (0)

    Hi ShawnPDX,

From accounting perspective I wonder if the cost and sales values of the BOM are identical to the sum of item 1-3 or whether there are some additional things that need to be taken into consideration to make the BOM out of the three items (assembling, overhead, etc.)

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
