Opportunities duplicating themselves

What could cause Opportunities to duplicate themselves?

My coworker created an opportunity and it created 24 duplicates. 23 are showing up under my name (admin) and one is showing up under the actual owner - not the original creator. All 24 dupes do not have all the fields filled out like the original. they just have the Title field and 2 other fields filled out.

I can't think what I did to cause this to happen. This weekend I worked on the Sales Process but it has no rules or flows associated with it. I corrected a business rule that has to do with a couple of fields in Leads. I haven't created any new Flows or Business Rules.

Using V. 9, not changed to the unified interface yet

Any ideas would be appreciated. This could be a horrendously inconvenient issue.

Thank you.

FYI: I am Admin-lite - I know what I know but I am self-taught and there is a lot I don't know that I don't know because I don't know it exists and some I definitely know that I don't know and either have to research or ask for help.

I have the same question (0)

Quite a mystery you have right there. Your CRM must be haunted..

Can you please check if a plugin or a workflow is executed in a very deep depth ?

We are not using any plugins and the only workflows I have do not relate to the opportunity. I don't know how to check how they were created - other than seeing that it is under my name/says system.

    Is this problem reproducible?

Can you check the audit history and see who is the "created by" for these records? May be this will help ? Also, these duplicate records are created on any specific trigger point or any time ? Is there any batch job you implemented?

I haven't pulled an audit yet - forgot what it was called until I was fixing dinner last night (have the kind of account where very few people use so I haven't needed to audit). I haven't run any batch jobs, ever. It seems to be on creation of a new Opportunity. It seems to consistently make 13 copies with just the Required Fields filled out and all rest left blank. It is listed under my name (I am the administrator) as owner - original so far is done by myself or different people- and modified by system (as is the original).

I opened up My Open Opportunities and found that I had over 200 (I should have zero or 1-3 that haven't been assigned yet). Just went through and seems to be about 29, all occurring 1/27 to 1/30.

Looked at Audit Report - saw one at 4:19pm (I left early yesterday and was not here) - System Update for Opp; then create (my name) - see title; then it would do a set of 1 Update -System/ 2 Create -my name, total of 13 times. sigh...
