Custom Loyalty Scenario

Hi

I'm incredibly new to Dynamics AX 2012 R3 for Retail, but I'm already bowled over by the complexity and power of the system. I'm currently wanting to use it just for a Demo purpose to demonstrate a loyalty card system in action. The scenario I would like to create is:

  • Discount gets pushed into POS and DB by another program (C#) via an API.
  • Link these discounts to customers loyalty card numbers.
  • When customer arrives at till, the loyalty card number can be used to claim the discount.

The idea is the ability to send personalised offers to loyalty customers and simultaneously create them in the POS so that redemption is possible should they decide to buy.

This requires a loyalty scheme whereby the discount is linked to the person, and not to an event or time period.

From scanning through documentation it seems (I could be wrong) that loyalty systems currently in AX2012 R3 are not designed to work this way, they instead are applied based on a timeframe/affiliation such as Student...

So is there a workaround somebody more experienced can think of? Or if not can somebody give advice on how it could be accomplished/how big a task it would be to a Dynamics newbie?

Really just trying to gauge how possible this would be.

Thanks for reading,

JK

Are you using OOB AX Loyalty...?  If your answer is yes, then refer technet.microsoft.com/.../hh597302.aspx and www.youtube.com/watch

Thanks for the resources. I'd seen the TechNet sections before and that is what prompted my question.

The OOB Loyalty deals only in points. What I want to create is more like a coupon scenario.

i.e. A coupon is sent to a certain customer and they can use it to redeem the given discount on a specific product.

I'm sorry I didn't explain very well at the beginning. Is there a way of creating such a coupon style object where it can be registered to a certain customer and registered to a product (not a generic discount on all items)...

    Thanks

    JK

According to my knowledge, there is no OOB solution. You have to write code to achieve this requirement.

Okay thanks. Is there a particular SDK or any resources that I can refer to to modify AX's functionality in this case then?
