Questions about cycle counting.

Posted on by 5

Hi,

My first time here so excuse me if this is in the wrong place.

My company has recently moved over to Nav 18 from an old 2004ish version and I have noticed a few problems with the cycle counting element of the software that I cannot figure out.

I believe all the inventory data must have been imported over, we have set up our cycle counting periods (A,B,C's) but now we cannot figure out how to update cycle count dates, without having to go into each individual item card and 'doing it manually'. Is there some way I can just tell NAV that I want to, for instance group all the A classed items and update their cycle to a specific date, say, starting 1st July, for instance?

Also, when I create a cycle count journal, on the old version of Nav, when ready to post the journal, there would be an option to update the cycle count dates, which we would do before finishing, putting the counted items into the next counting cycle. There doesn't seem to be this option anymore on new Nav and when I have posted the journal the Last Phys. Invt. Date will correctly put the date in on the item card, but the Next counting start and end dates are not getting filled in.

Could somebody steer me in the right direction please?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    RE: Questions about cycle counting.

Can you do Cycle Counting in NAV 2018 without the Advanced Warehouse module?

    Hello

There are some basic steps in creating and managing your cycle counts. The procedures haven't changed.

    1) Assign your  "Phys Invt Counting Period Code" - ABC's which you have already done.

    2) Go to the "Whse Phys. Invt Journal".

    3) Hit "Calculate Inventory"

    4) Input the counted value

    5) Register

Look at this video for more direction.
