This field (LedgerJournalTable.Name) is using Name data type, that has length of 60 chars.

You have two options:

1) Find or create some data type which suits your requirement = has more characters. Then change the EDT of this field to use this other EDT.

2) Change lenght of Name data type - this has impact for all places in the system where Name data type is used.

IF I will create new Edt and will apply in name field of LedgerJournalTable.Name ,So will it impact on other form or table.

If you create a new EDT and use it in LedgerJournalTable.Name, it will only impact this field / form.

It also means that if this field is used on some reports or somewhere else in the system, the text might be cropped to 60 characters.

Actually, I Increased the length of Name EDT upto 100,But Still it is considering only 60 character after that its Giving error message.

You need to synchronize the database after making changes in the data model.

And of course you need to do the sync also when deploying your changes to test & prod.

Hello Shilpi,

What's the 'value' added from changing the journal description field?

As you continue working with AX the posted journal name records will grow and you will probably need to delete them via the cleansing jobs to keep your system fast.

Hi Shilpi,

As everyone suggested you can create new EDT for this field.

Also if it's showing error after db sync or full CIL. You please try to restart the AOS service and check.

I don't see harm if you are increasing the length of EDT. If you are creating new EDT, you will need to apply this on all other tables where same field is used. Can you post the error message to get the better idea?
