Is there any Undo option?

Hi,

Per my understanding NAV has auto-save feature. However, if user was accidentally wipe up some data on a field that he don't want to, is there any way he can get back the original data like "Undo"? I've consulted some vendors saying that it is not possible to do so, is there any alternative? thanks

Regards,

David Lo

If you have activated Change Log Feature then you can find changed data in Change Log Entries..

    hi,

no, "Undo data" does not exist.

NAV works connected (datasource directly on tables), there is no concept of data versioning of data and data in the fields (like visual studio applicationsI) once you confirmed the insert the data written and committed.

the only solution is the one described above by Mohana (Change Log).

thanks, will the change log slow down the system badly?

    No

    We use it usually

You can select some tables or only some fields from some tables for change log triggers (selective choice)

You can log delete, insert, modify events.

Depends upon which option are you using.

If you want to save All Changes then it will increase the database size a lot.

so its better to select only some tables (or fields) .

You can delete log data using Change Log - Delete report (510) after some time.

If you use Change Log for all fields and all tables, systemwill be slow down. We use Chang Log for important tables (e.g. setup tables...) and very important fields on other tables on specific event.

Undo doesn't exist, but you can change all data before posting document/journal. When you post them, you have not change this data by accounting standards, so that "Undo" doesn't make sense. You have few similar commands: Undo Shipment, Undo Receipt... but these are not realy "Undo", because they make correction entry and doesn't delete wrong entry.
