Business Hours and After Hours in Project Management timesheet

Hi All,

I have come across a requirement related to business hours and after hours submission in timesheet and the system to pick different sales price (hours) for business hours and after hours. As far as I know we have only one column to configure the sales price which we can configure either at role or category level but not for both and system picks the rates in time-sheet based on the configured sales price.

It would be great to know if anyone has come across such scenario.

I have the same question (0)

There is an additional information, I forgot to update. I also want to capture business hours and after hours pricing at WBS level so that business hours and after hours consumption can appear in tracking view of WBS

    Hi Nakul,

It would be possible to setup a price per e.g. hour category. You can then have two lines on the timesheets. On with category for business hours and one with the category for after hours.

    Good Morning nakul waghe,

There are two options to get this fixed.

    1. Create a category for 'normal' hours and one for 'overtime' hours

    2. Make use of line properties with extra charges. I Please see the next screenprint that illustrates an example how the system adds automatically 10% to your costs and 20% to the sales price if this line property is selected in the timesheet.

Irrespective of what you chose, you have to make sure that people chose either the correct category or the correct line property when entering times.

Personally, I prefer the option to have different categories because it gives you more flexibility when it comes to defining prices, setups, etc.

Probably check out and test both possibilities in a demo/test environment to see what might fit best.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks Ludwig, I will try the line property feature, but it would be great if you can tell me that why can't we define pricing with the combination of Role ID and Category, because when I select Role ID in sales price hours table, the category gets disabled.

Thanks Andre, I thoguht of using it but we need to define pricing at Role ID level and if I select role ID to define pricing then the category field becomes disabled on Sales Price (hours) form

Will check this further and update on this, thanks both

    Hello nakul,

You can setup sales prices for hours either by role id or category but not both.

    That is 'by design'.

In other words, MS designed the solution this way.

If you cannot go along with it then you can consider making a modification to the standard application.

Before doing that test things carefully to identify potential side effects/issues that such a modification would come with.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks Ludwig, I agree on this with you. I am tried to get most of it through out of box application to avoid customized solution, thanks for your suggestion.

    Hi Nakul,

    Got it.

What you can do alternatively to avoid a customization is leveraging the PowerPlatform.

That is, instead of asking people to enter time in timesheets in D365FO, create a PowerApp and ask them to enter timesheets there.

Once they submit their PowerApp time recording you can start a flow that takes the hours recorded and use a Flow to create an hour journal in D365FO.

In order to get the hour journal filled with the correct price you would need a price table that you configure e.g. in an Excel document stored on SharePoint.

The prices setup there can also be grabbed by Flow and used when creating the journal and the lines.

This is not a modification of D365FO but a kind of workaround.

Please check out this option and test it.

I believe this might overcome the issue you mentioned.

    Best regards,

    Ludwi
