Negative sign on quantity and unit price on a Sales Order

Hi all,

To meet a goal of my client I would like to relax a setting on the Sales Order. When I enter a line with a negative quantity and a negative unit price (to achieve a positive net amount), I am thrown this error:

"The sign on Quantity and Net amount have to be the same"

Has anyone had experience with relaxing this setting? If so what other areas in AX may it impact?

Thank you!

So the customer is returning an object but paying you for the return. Why not add a misc. charge to the line?

    Hi Tim,

We need to be able to manage the rates for the 'return' through trade agreements to keep the process consistent with other parts of the business so using charges hasnt worked in this scenario.

    Thank you.

I've been asked to do this and am hesitant (we use it for change orders). This is a useful control that prevents positive charges for negative qtys & vice versa. Rather than disabling it, it might be better to throw up a dialog box that prompts user that there's a potential problem and whether or not to proceed. I don't know if it's GAAP.

At this time, it's infrequent enough that I'd rather be notified to make the change for someone rather than open it up.

We use Misc Charges for restock fees. Your scenario seems peculiar.

It would be easy, though, to add to the validate statement to allow only specific orders types, items, etc.
