Any way to display a text message conditionally on a form?

Business rules are great, but limited in what actions they can perform.  I don't see a way to use one to hide or show a text message.

Does anyone have a good workaround?

I could have a field on every single record that holds the message, and hide or show the field by a business rule.  But that seems wasteful.

Any other ideas?  JavaScript is a no-no here as we have nobody who can write it.

Thanks,

Jessica

do you have a senario/example of when you'd like a message visible and when it must be removed?

    Hi Jessica,

It would be better if you provide a scenario/example on what you are trying to achieve.

Based on your provided description, I assume that you wanted to show/hide text message based on certain condition (i.e. based on other field value).

Currently, there is no action available in Business Rule to show/hide a text message (Until you show/hide the field).

As a workaround, we can create a new Field let’s say “Message” on the record and can use Set Field Value action of Business Rule to update the “Message” field as shown below:

    Text-Message.png

Also, there will be no need to show/hide the text message, as we are showing the message based on condition.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

I need to base it on a field value.  If a choice field we'll call Customer Type is set to "Tribal" the message should say "Alison is the POC for all Tribal customers".  Otherwise it should be hidden, or the value set to empty.

I don't see any way to do that without misusing a text field.

You have the scenario exactly right.

Thank you for confirming there's no way besides a text field on all records to solve it.
