how can I view the exchange rate in a posted sales Invoice or CLE?

Hi friends,

I raised a Sales Invoice in a foreign currency and after posting, I want to find what was the exchange rate that converted the values from the foreign currency to the local one. I know you can check the posting date and then visit the currency table and match with the exchange rate line. That's not convenient.

Ideally, I would like to go to the Posted Sales Invoices or Customer Ledger Entries and find the exchange rate (e.g. 1,3542).

Thanks for your input.

cheers!

    Christos,

Please check the currency factor on the Posted Sales Invoice Header, it may not be visible on the page , so zoom on it to check the value.

In customer ledger entry there is indeed currency factor field, which might give you the idea; however there you will find 1/x value (in your case, it will show 0,738443361394181) and might be inconvenient for the user.

The reason why there is no such separate field by default is actually because in many countries there would be no fixed rate for the posted invoice, due to legal requirement of revaluation of outstanding currency invoices (e.g., you posted sales invoice in the middle of the month with a certain rate; then, you need to revaluate the currency receivables at the rate at the end of the month). It would obviously give you a new rate, different from initially posted!

There might also be the cases when users (e.g., accounting dept) specifically want to post an invoice at a certain date, but with a different currency rate (e.g., the period for posting is closed, and they need to post invoice in a new period, but using the initial currency rate). It can also represent a challenge for you )).

If you are still interested to show the initial currency rate, existed at the date of the posting, you can force users to put it to Description field manually before posting (brrrrrr!), or automate the filling of it by short programming code. Another option is to add a new field in the Posted Sales Invoice table, and relate it as a FlowField to currency table by currency code and posting date; but, you might be missing some dates as Central Banks might not be providing rates for e.g. Mondays as they are the same as Fridays, and for Monday there would simply be no exchange rate - nothing to relate to by date).
