BOM Calculation

Hi,

I have selected on tracking dimensions following setups

  1. Batch Number Active True
  2. Batch Number Primary stocking True
  3. Batch Number Physical Inventory True
  4. Batch Number  Financial Inventory True

Production Item and all raw materials are weighted average costing method

Costing Version [Costing Type] is planned cost and cost price model is calculation group

I am not able to get price while run BOM calculation, is there any way to see price while run BOM calculation with above Tracking Dimensions setup

I am expecting weighted average cost while run BOM calculation.

Would please help me to achieve this requirements

Note: If I changed tracking dimensions from BATCH to None[Batch active false, Batch Primary false, Physical inventory false, Financial inventory false], I am able to get price while run the BOM calculation

Thanks
Rajkumar

    RE: BOM Calculation

From the released product go to plan//default order settings & for the site that you're activating the cost for make sure that your default order type matches that of which you're performing your BOM calc on (purchased, produced).

Well  the OP had customized the system. Suggest you debug and as  this post is resolved and 15 months old if you have an issue create a new question.

    Hi Rajkumar

As requested and I get a cost. I would suggest you mirror your setup in one of the systems you had working before and see if it works, if you need developers to fix elements there maybe other issues.

    RE: BOM Calculation

    Hi Steven,

Our developer has fixed the issue,

But still same, i am not able to get BOM line item price when run BOM calculation.

Please do small test on your PC, i have tested it.

    1. create one production item[MFG] and one purchase item[Raw material]

    2. for raw materiel item, attach the BATCH tracking distentions[financial inventory should selected]

    3. create and attach the calculation group for MFG and RM items

    4. Create Costing version

    5. Add RM items in MFG BOM line

    6. Create Purchase order for RM[do Confirm, Receipt, Invoice]

    7. Run BOM calculation for MFG item

System will not pick up the RM cost[weighted avg] when you run BOM calculation.

    Thanks

    Rajkumar

    RE: BOM Calculation

Your Fallback setting is none, so the item cost is not referenced. You cannot set it to anything else without an error being called.  It needs to be active. Get a developer to look at why the function cannot be called.

    RE: BOM Calculation

    Hi André,

Thanks for your reply, i have done this setup many time, It is working fine. My questions is,

If I have selected on tracking dimensions following setups, Does BOM calculation work or not?

    Batch Number Active 'True'

    Batch Number Primary stocking 'True'

    Batch Number Physical Inventory 'True'

    Batch Number  Financial Inventory 'True'

Because, BOM calculation is not picking item cost, If i enabled above setup.

If i set to 'false' above setup, BOM Calculation is working perfectly

I have read BOM calculation using costing sheet documents, in this documents, there is no more explanation about BOM Calculation with batch tracking dimensions setup

    Thanks

    Rajkumar

    RE: BOM Calculation

    Hi Raikumar,

You are asking a question which could have a lot of causes. The BOM calculation is not that simple like creating e.g. a vendor. You can read more about BOM costing on Technet. technet.microsoft.com/.../gg213591.aspx

Also there are trainings which includes this part.

For AX2009 a whitepaper was released for BOM calculations using the Costing sheet. You can download and read this as the base is still valid for AX 2012. www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    RE: BOM Calculation

You need to remove any customizations or do a full CIL compile. Setting it to 'None' means you must put the item line in the costing version and the released product item cost is not referenced.
