User Cannot See Shared Dashboard

(0) ShareShare

Hello All,

I have a user here that cannot see a dashboard that their superior has shared with them. The dashboard is a list view that his boss has created.

We have:

  • Shared the dashboard with intended users
  • Shared the view via the advanced find

We have tried to share with the user and myself who is the admin, but we are getting an error:

"You do not have enough privileges to access the Microsoft Dynamics 365 object or perform the requested operation. For more information, contact your Microsoft Dynamics 365 administrator."

What do we need to share or enable for the dashboard to be shared and view able? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello - If you have shared the view and shared the dashboard, and the only thing on the dashboard is the view (no personal charts, etc.), and if the users have the underlying entity permissions  (which it sounds like they do, since you are the admin), then you have done everything correctly.

However, I have seen this happen in the past under two conditions - 1) a particularly aggressive browser cache, so clear it if you are OK with that, or use a completely different browser to test and 2) when a column that exists on the view was subsequently removed from the solution - or at least changed in a way to cause this to happen, which can even be corrupted in rare circumstances if you are moving solution files from a sandbox, etc.  If item 1 is definitely not the problem, then try reducing some of the columns on the view temporarily.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,

    Hey Owen,

Thanks for the response. When I came in this morning I was able to see the view and shared dashboard. I think it just took some time for it to show up.

I am experiencing the same issue.  All components of the dashboard were shared with a several users including myself. The owner did the following:
    • Shared the dashboard with intended users
    • Shared the view via the advanced find
    • Shared the charts

I was not able to see it and had the user going back in and give me full rights to all components.  This worked for me but not for the other 2 users.  They still cannot see the dashboard and by saying that it doesn't even show in the list of Dashboard Views.   Which if the dashbaord was shared but not the other components they would still see it and receive errors.

    Any thoughts?

I figured it out.  It was a security role issue.  Apparently a normal user such as a salesperson would not have access to the Goals entity so I modified the security role.  Navigate to Advanced Settings > Security > Security Roles.  Select the Security Role followed by the Business Management tab and select the proper permissions for the Goals entity.  Resolved the issue.

    Hope that helps.
