Is the Jobs Module in Business Central part of Accounts Receivable

Posted on by 30

Hello,

Can someone tell me if the Jobs module in Business Central is  a stand alone module or is it part of the Accounts Receivable module?

Thank you,

Elise

    Hi ,

In that case, you can use Job module as stand alone if you want to manage internal project and cost.

you are also right it is also linked with AR & AP but it depends they want to use it or not.

Overall, while Jobs is a specific module in Business Central, it does rely on the integration with other financial modules to fully function and provide accurate financial reporting.

I don't understand how you can say the Jobs is stand-alone. When an invoice is created from a job for a customer, that invoice posted to Accounts Receivable, thus it is not stand-alone. Also, you can post from purchase invoices to jobs for charges.

You must have GL and AR and possibly inventory and AP depending upon your desired use?

    Hi Elise,

The Jobs module in Dynamics 365 Business Central is a stand-alone module and is not part of the Accounts Receivable module.

    Both modules will work differently.

    Thanks,

So you are saying it can be a standalone module?  That it can be used without any other module?

You do not have to bill for Jobs.  If you are tracking internal costs, there is no need to generate a Sales Invoice.  By doing so you by-pass the AR side of BC, and simply use it to manage internal projects and costs.

So it does needs Accounts Receivable since Sales is in AR?

    [/quote]

Yes that is correct as long as you want to do invoicing on your jobs.

To be more explicit, Jobs uses customers, creates sales invoices and posts to customer ledger and general ledger. So though it tracks sales, cost and wip, I would say it's not a standalone module as it cannot function without customers, general ledger accounts, items and resources (items and resources are not necessary....) Anything inside BC is totally integrated, at least that's my opinion

It is a standalone module but invoicing will be done using Account Receivables (Sales)
