Inability to create user on CRM 2015

Hi,

I have a client running CRM 2015 on premise. When they try to add a new user from Security>Users and type in the user's logon name (Domain\User1) and tab out, the autocomplete from Active Directory doesn't happen and suggests the User doesn't exist. Please what could be the issue here?

PS: The user can log into the domain with his AD credentials
