In 9.0? I don't see it under Services in the Windows control panel. For the record, I also do not see the VSS or Unzip service listed.
Vanilla install of 9.0. I was trying to import a solution and was getting an error that "The plug-in execution failed because no Sandbox Worker processes are currently available." I then checked to make sure the Sandbox service was running and discovered that it actually was not present under Windows Services. In addition the VSS & Unzip services are both missing. I know I selected them when i did the install (basically accepting all the defaults.) I then checked another 9.0 development box I am working on and found the same thing.
What gives?
Tried a repair and still the same thing.
I manually installed the services using PowerShell but still get the error when trying to import a solution. Also, I noticed that the Unzip service will immediately stop after starting and log an error in the event log that it stopped unexpectedly.
Trying another repair now and am noticing that it uninstalls the Async and Monitoring services, but not the 3 that I installed manually that were not present initially.
I'm assuming these services do need to be present under Services.msc in version 9.0?
Hello,
There is no need to open new threads when the previously created one is pretty much the same. You can just post an update message to up the thread.
Thanks Andrew. I thought maybe the wording wasn't pulling any hits in the original thread. Any idea about these services not appearing in the Control panel?
When I have ideas - I share them. In the case of your issue, I have no ideas, unfortunately. I didn't do much admin work in on-premises instances for years now. And I'm absolutely happy with this fact.
Hello Joe,
Sandbox Processing Service should be available.
As you have already tried to repair the server installation, would say to install a new server into this deployment and try to add the backend server roles or full roles.
If the issue persists, would say to raise a ticket with Microsoft support, so we can help to figure out the issue with the service.
Regards,
Thanks Gustavo! That's the weird thing. I have two 9.0 deployments. Neither one shows these services listed under Services in the Control Panel. However, I do see that they are running under Processes in Task Manager.
OK, I did a clean install of Windows 2016 and Dynamics 365 9.0.2.3034 and I can confirm that neither the Sandbox service, the VSS service, or the Unzip service install to the Services applet in the Control Panel. Would've been nice if Microsoft documented this somewhere. I just wasted 3 days on this :smh:
