What are all steps involved in migrating the accounting system from Navision (Dynamics business central ) to D365 Finance and Operations?
The explanatory live scenario will be helpful.

It's just like migrating from any system to D365FO. There's no special path for NAV/BC.

Are you familiar about such migrations in general?

    Hi s e,

Agree with Nikolaos. A migration from NAV/BC to D365FO needs to be treated as any other data migration.

The MS docs sites have some information on the things to look out for.

    Please see: docs.microsoft.com/.../migrating-data-using-the-data-import-export-framework-dixf-dmf

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Yes.

I need to transfer all financial balances including open transactions from Navision to D365 FO.

All masters are exported and setup is done in D365 FO

    Hi s e,

Like mentioned above, you can use the data import export framework in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. There are entities available for balances and open entries. E.g. you can use entities like the general journal, inventory journals or sales orders.

    Hi s e,

If you have to transfer only financial balances then you can use GL journals for that purpose.

Please double check that with your accounting team that you do not have to bring over other data as well, such as open vendor/customer positions, inventory balances/values, etc.

That is because if you have to bring over also open positions, inventory balances and alike, the transfer process is different as it covers multiple ledgers (GL, AP, AR, inventory, etc.)

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
