Replacement field in data entities for Excel add-in

Hi,

Greetings and thank you for reading this post!

I am creating a data entity for a table that let's say stores the recid for items, and I have created a data entity on that table alone.

This data entity would be used in excels using the add-ins.

But on the excel, instead of the recids of the items I want the ItemId to be shown.

Could someone please help me with a reference document?

With regards,

Abhinay

    Hi Abhinay,

There are two options. You can add a datasource referring to the referenced table and add the ItemId field or you can add a virtual field.

See the documentation for more information about these two options:

Build and consume data entities - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn (step 9 starts explaining related tables)

Computed columns and virtual fields in data entities - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
