Retirement of Dynamics 365 Field Service On Prem

As has been announced this July, Microsoft is retiring Field Service On Prem, the package installation won't be available next year as well as the mobile application (Xamarin). MS recommends upgrading to the cloud. However, some organizations prefer to use the on perm version especially government sectors. We have a requirement to build Field Service app on prem but we can not proceed due to the retirement, as by next year users won't be able to download the mobile application and also Microsoft won't support the product anymore.

What would you recommend on this matter, would you suggest customizing the app from scratch? meaning create custom entities to represent Work Orders, Resources, etc. And build the schedule board by using a web resource (would be very complicated), then connect to another mobile app provider like Resco. This is one approach, another is use another product (other than MS), only issue is that this government agency is already using MS Dynamics products like customer service and sales, so they want to connect Field Service to these applications (to use cases, contacts,....), would this be possible if anther product is used? if so, could you please recommend one.

Yes a field service product that can integrate with Dynamics 365 Customer Service.

I would love to hear if you have any other suggestions/workaround for this.

Thank you Scott, but it is a requirement not to migrate to the cloud.

Since on prem is retiring, what we're looking for now is another product (other than Microsoft Field Service) that would be on prem and also can integrate with Dynamics CRM, so all the backend data would come from crm (like contacts, accounts...) but field service functionality is on the new product.

Would be great if you have any suggestions of such a product or if you have an alternative approach/workaround.

Have you consider that Microsoft has a Government Cloud that includes Field Service (just not Connected Field Service yet).  Take a look at this:  docs.microsoft.com/.../government-feature-availability

    Thank you for replying Nya.

Our issue is that using on prem is a requirement, we have not yet started the implementation as we're looking for alternatives/workarounds to use field service on prem.

So migrating to the cloud is not an option. What would you recommend other than that? is inapplicable to customize the app from scratch and then connect to Resco app(which might not work as it integrates with field service entities). Or it's better to find another product.

    Hi,

    Here are two recommendations:

    • You can migrate your data from On-Premise to your new environment. Please refer to the following doc to know more about how to migrate data with DataMigrationUtility.exe tool between two environments.

Create a schema to export configuration data - Power Platform | Microsoft Docs

    • Please try the following product, which allows to transform your business by migrating to the cloud:

Migration Program | Microsoft Dynamics 365
