Check whether the same port us used by any other service .Check the permission given to service account in Sql server . Try to use  local account and check

Check for permissions in SQL DB for service Account like DB_Owner

Is it a demo database or upgraded database ?

It's a Demo database came with the installer.

The service account already has DB_OWNER role for the Demo DB.

The error log does not give much information, may be the install did not went well. Try reinstalling.

It seems that something is wrong with the installation.

Now I tried the following steps:-

    1. I tried to connect a Demo DB of NAV 2016 with the above Server Instance.  It got connected.

    2. Then I tried opening the NAV 2016 demo DB with NAV 2017 Dev. IDE and click OK for the conversion confirmation dialog, immediately after the conversion, the Server Instance came to a halt :-|

I reinstalled 3 times, still it didn't work.

Anyway, let me try with any other installer.

Thank you for the valuable inputs.
