Hi all

I would like to know about AX 2012 liscensing .

Developer created a new function (inventory management related function- allocation under Item Counting menu) and

I would like to know if I can confirm that newly created function in terms of liscense( functional or enterprise or task)

where can I confirm it ?

And I also would like to know if it is necessary to worry about liscense( enterprise or functional or tast  ) for newly created liscense.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Pooh,

Do you have a development environment?

If so, you can check the properties of MenuItem, check the two properties of ViewUserLicense and MaintainUserLicense.

    Dear Blue Wang,

Thank you so much for your answer.

My new created function has 4 menu items and

if  the mentioned 2 fields' liscense type is task , it means user who has task authority can access the menu and use it , right?

Among 4 menu items, one set up as task ( the above 2 fields) and 3 of them set up as none.

So , it means functional and enterprise authority aren't require?right?

    Best Regards,

    Pooh

    Hi Pooh,

You need to map menu items to correct CAL type by specifying a value for ViewUserLicense and MaintainUserLicense.

If nothing is provided for these properties of a menu item, the menu item will be categorized with the highest available CAL type, which is Enterprise CAL.

    Hi Blue Wang

Thanks for your answer and the reference link.

I understand So, if none  is set up, it will be cotagoriaed as Enterprise CAL.

Is it possible to change the properties of those menu items' menus?

I would like to be usable the new function under functional CAL.

    Hi Pooh,

If it is a standard MenuItem, then you cannot modify it manually.

Maybe through the code, I haven't tried it, I found this code:dotnetxperience.blogspot.com/.../modify-aot-items-from-code-ax-2012.html

    Hi Blue Wang

    Thanks for your answer.

Menu items I wanted to change are not standard MenuItems.

They are newly created  MenuItems(4) and 1 sets as Task and other 3 set as none.

Do you have experience of changing such items' properties?

    Best regards,

    Pooh

You'd better contact your developer, you need to know the impact of modifying it on your current system.

    Hi Pooh,

Is this new function based on a complete new table/function or are you using also standard functionality? The new function is placed under Item Counting. Is it depending on this feature?

What persons do you want to provide this new feature? If they are already an enterprise user, you don't have to do that much...

    Dear Andre'

    Thanks for your reply.

The new function is related with Item Counting and so it is placed under it.

This function is based on new tables, classes and some standard tables (like InventDim).

But it does not depend on Item counting function, only related with item counting .

In the future, customer would like to assign the role that only able to use that new function to an enterprise user. So I need to create new role that only allowed to do that new function .
