How can I sync all the Dynamics CRM online instances (Dev, QA, UAT and Production)?

Posted on by 55
Hi,

We have four CRM online instances. One is Dev (unmanaged solution), QA (unmanaged solution), UAT (managed solution) and Production (managed solution). Currently these instances are not in sync. All the changes have been done on the production instances by a colleague which is not a good practice as we all know. Now the need is to sync all the instances.

Can someone help me or advise on how I can achieve this. Any feedback is appreciable.

Thank you in advance

Thank you Arun for your suggestion.

The PROD instance has the managed solution and changes that were done on the default solution (that will be unmanaged). There will be on going development and UCI transition activity coming up. Do you think this will be the best approach to copy the PROD instance on downstream instances?

You can do PROD refresh (copy) over to sandbox instances (lower regions like Dev, QA, UAT). Hope you don't have lot of on-going development stuffs, otherwise backup them after refresh.

This will overwrite the sandbox environments with PROD schema or full restore based on your choice. (Schema only should be enough)

Unless you're sure you won't step on new development in DEV, there is no recommended way.  You can pull a new solution (unmanaged) from PROD with the changes and apply them back.  Again, you risk damaging unapplied changes in DEV.  If your colleague was smart enough to get these changes to a managed level, he should be smart enough to take care of the re-syncing.
