Filter/restrict actions between two departments using same legal entity

Hi everyone

(I just posted this topic some minutes ago. However, somehow it seems like it did not get posted at all. I wasn't able to find my post afterwards.
So, if this now exists twice, I apologize.)

Currently we have several legal entities within our D365 F&O configuration. However, due to several reasons, we had to agree that two departments will use the same legal entity.
This is because one of the departments is rather a sub-product of our company.

Sharing that entity between two departments is now causing several issues/questions.

I kindly would like to hear your expertise on following 3 questions:

1) Is it possible to filter which user sees which customers? Maybe via Customer Group or other options? So employees of department X only see their relevant customers.
2) Is it possible to restrict which user can use/maintain which journal? So employees of department X can't post anything for department Y.
3) Is it possible to filter out certain data while using Trial Balance? Because, right now, the head of department X also sees data of department Y, and vice versa.

Thank you & kind regards,
Sinan

    Hey,

I am afraid you cant restrict access to data, or at least not without customization. I would start checking this documentation.

Although, its achievable, question is how do you distinguish the security roles to see data x and not y. For customers you could use customer groups, I would suggest to check out the number sequence that can be based on business units, which may help to distinguish between the two departments.

    Kind regards, Adis
