Manufacturing Source code family

Posted on by

It is possible to set up families of items and to choose source code family in the prod order header. What is it used for? Btw why doesn't the online help cover manufacturing?

    RE: Manufacturing Source code family

    Hi Jesper,

Can't comment on why Manufacturing topics aren't addressed in the online help, BUT...

I think you will find this page helpful in explaining the Product Family concept in NAV: msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh172520(v=nav.90).aspx

    and msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh173939(v=nav.90).aspx

Once you have Families set up, you can use them in Production Orders by selecting 'Source Type: Family' and the selecting the appropriate Family record in 'Source No.'. These fields are in the Product Order header.

When I say Production Orders, they may either be a Simulated, Planned, Firm Planned, or Released Production Orders.

    Hope this helps.
