Default lookup view in dynamics account lookup field

Posted on by 70

Hi all,

I have a sandbox and a live environment of dynamics.

On the contact form in my sandbox, I can add an account to the contact using the company name field. ("Company name" is the table column and "parentcustomerid" is the schema name of this column)

The sandbox view gives me the option to look up either "accounts" or "contacts"

In my live environment which is a copy of my dev sandbox, the same field only shows the users the option of "contacts" but I want the users to add company names and not people really.

The image here shows our dev sandbox with both the accounts and contacts lookup available:

Does anyone know why the live site wouldn't show the default or how I might fix this?DevSandboxEnvironment.png

Many thanks in advance.

Matt

    Hello,

I would recommend you to check if Primary column of Account which is Account Name has value or not. If value is blank then hyperlink will not be visible.

Hi Bipin Kumar and Mohsin Ali

I dont know if this sheds any light on the issue but if I go to the accounts entity in my live site and add the contact to the account it fills in the Parentid field on the contact entity with the correct account but it shows up in black writing instead of blue and it is not possible to use it as a hyperlink to the related account.

Hi mohsin_ali Thank you for responding to my question with your time.

    1. Yes I have full permission and I use my account to log into both the dev and live site.

    2. Account entity is in the app

    3. There is no js running on my contact form (it is just the OOB contact form)

    4. It is definitely the same field.

This is a strange issue that I cant seem to solve. if you have any other ideas I would be grateful.

    Thanks

    Mathu

Hi Bipin Kumar Thank you for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it. There is no java script running on this contact form and yes the account entity is in my app designer. This is a strange problem. Do you have any other ideas?

    Verify below items please

    1. Users are having permissions to at least read the Account

    2. Account Entity is added into model driven application

    3. Make sure there is no JS running at onload event of contact that restricting parentcustomer field to be selected as Contacts only

    4. Check field definition to confirm if it is really the same field you have in sandbox.

    Hello,

Check if you have any JS code added to show only Contact entity for your lookup field.

Also, have you added Account entity in your app designer?
