Copy data to a new Dyn365FO instance

Does anyone knows if it is possible to copy a subset of the legal entities that currently exist in a Dyn365FO environment into a completely new instance of LCS & Dyn365FO?

The final product would be to have the subset of the legal entities with its full data set (configuration data, master data and transactional data) of Dyn365FO into its own LCS project/Dyn365FO instance (including Prod and Sandbox environments). The subset of legal entities would have their own Azure subscription, AAD, DevOps (just as if they were a completely different businesses).

One way to perform this would be to export data entities from the source Dyn365FO to the destination Dyn365FO once all LCS/Azure/DevOps is setup, but that would entail performing a new Dyn365FO implementation from scratch. I would like to know if there is a better way to copy data, given that subset of legal entities to implement in a new Dyn365FO exist already in another Dyn365FO instance.

Any tips are appreciated.

Hi Adalberto,

You can only copy a full database or work with data packages to move data. If you copy the database, you can try to delete some legal entities, but that will be blocked if there are transactions or the LE is or was part of an organization hierarchy.

We do have transactions, so looks like we don't have a quick option other than to use data packages to move the data.
