Is it possible to extend Control Tab in Cloud POS for Dynamics 365 Retail?

I have already added a custom control in a new tab of Control Tab using designer. I worked on it as I would with normal custom control, but the control is always shown regardless of tab selection and is placed in "Location (0,0)" for CartView instead of in tab - everything appears in top left corner on CartView.

I expected a typical CustomControl extension approach to work, but it is not. Is there anything I should do differently when following the CustomControl sample? Is there a way to manifest the partial view into the Control Tab?

I'm working on Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations PU28.
