Advanced find to see accounts and contacts with notes

Posted on by 30

I would like to generate a report (via advanced find?) that shows all accounts, and the contacts attached to those accounts, that contain specific search terms in the notes title and description.  So the query would be 'show me all contacts that have 'beetle' in the note title, and display the contact names, account name, territory, postcode and note title and description.

Is there a way to do this please?

Thanks so much for your help Andrew.  That's beyond my skill set but at least I know what is and isn't possible now!

    Polly,

In this case you will have to start from "Note" entity and link it to Contact but there will be issues on getting of data from account that is parent to contact.

I would recommend to use XrmToolbox and FetchXml builder plugin from it - it should give the result you want to get.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks so much for your help - your suggestion almost gets me where I need.  How do I edit your query so that in the results I can see the text that appears in the description.

So the title would be 'beetle' and the description might be 'stag' or 'red' or killer beetle' - I want my results to show this text.  I've tried adding the 'description' column, but that hasn't worked.

With thanks in advance for your expertise.

    Hello,

Following advanced find query should do what you need:
