Inventory clean up

Hi Experts,

There are multiple clean up options are available in inventory module. I was just curious to know that what will be the impact we will have if we perform the clean ?

1. We will loos transaction data?

2. We will not be able to run any specific report?

3. Any financial transaction impact?

4 Any other impact which we should be aware about?

    Hi Saurabh,

    1. You will never lose transactional data.

    2. The most reports will not be affected.

    3. There is no financial impact when you run cleanup jobs.

    4. Mainly, obsolete data will be deleted. It should have a positive effect on performance. The jobs will remove e.g. InventDim records without reference to any transaction or InventSum records where all quantities and amounts are zero. When you use the item or inventory dimension later, it will just recreate records as required.

    The Inventory transaction archival will move inventory transactions to another table keeping the option to move it back and it ensures consistency. You can read more about this here: dynamicspedia.com/.../

    Like André mentioned , most clean up routines will improve performance. D365 has many tables with data that can be cleaned up.

    When you have a few millions SKU, you will have a significant table reduction by removing "orphan" records. 

    The only inventory maintenance routine that might impact in some implementations is Inventory transaction archival, since it moves records from one table to another
