changing Company owner cascading updates of timeline issue

Hi all

I am trying to help a customer with an integration I wrote.  It seems that there are a large number of accounts in CRM that have the wrong owner due to a typo in a user name.  While the owner can be changed in the UI or with SQL4CDS from XRM toolbox, doing so is causing a cascade of some timeline activities.

It is not reassigning the person, which is good, it is leaving them undisturbed, but it is date stamping the time.  As the timeline is organized by modified date it seems like all of the activities default to today.

I followed instructions here to alter the 1:N relationships for certain entities.

Question - is there any way to prevent the changing of the modified date stamp on the related entities?  Pic for an example, these entries are from 2020 and 2021 but are resurfacing with the change owner date time.  I don't know if this is due to the linked contact?

    Hi,

Did you change Assign's cascade behavior to cascade none?

In my testing, I made changes as above for the email, note, task, appointment, phone, etc. entity relationships.
The results show that after changing the owner of the account, these related records do not change the owner and their /Modified On/ time does not change.
Unless you entered these records on the timeline, which would cause the /Modefied On/ value to be modified.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li

    Howdy,

Back in the day we used to be able to use a plugin on the pre-event stage to handle this. I am not sure if that's still the case but might be something worth looking into. Most of the time what I end up doing is just changing the timeline to be ordered by "created on" instead of "modified on".
