Database blocking situation when invoicing intercompany order

(1) ShareShare

At two different customers at different release, AX 2012 R2 CU6 and AX 2012 R3 CU10 we have experienced the same hanging AX user session and database lock. I believe, but not shure, it occurs when performing invoicing of intercompany orders. The head blocker session in SQL is in both environments stuck with this:

(@P1 int,@P2 nvarchar(256))SELECT TOP 1

T1.SERVERID,T1.ISDEFAULTREPORTMODELSERVER,T1.SERVERURL,T1.ISDEFAULTREPORTLIBRARYSERVER,T1.AXAPTAREPORTFOLDER,T1.DESCRIPTION,T1.DATASOURCENAME,T1.REPORTM

ANAGERURL,T1.SERVERINSTANCE,T1.AOSID,T1.CONFIGURATIONID,T1.ISSHAREPOINTINTEGRATED,T1.RECVERSION,T1.RECID FROM SRSSERVERS T1 WHERE

((ISDEFAULTREPORTLIBRARYSERVER=@P1) AND (AOSID=@P2))

If killed everything goes back to normal and the invoicing of inter company order can be done.

I can see that other people have experienced this issue but I can't find the reason.

Does anybody have a explanation or solution at hand?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pär,

We are also experiencing the same issue from time to time and apply the same resolution.

Have you reached to a conclusion as to how to fix it?

    Thanks,

    Julien

Do you have the SQL Trace flag set which is recommended to avoid lock escalation? If not, then try that. Please note that it does require SQL Server instance restart.

I would say there is something going on with printers that cause this issue. We have installed all printers on the AOS and the problem is now gone. At least it has not happene since we installed the printers on the AOS.

    Hi Vilmos,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we do have this trace flag set already.

    Thanks,

    Julien

    Hi Pär,

    Thanks for your reply.

I will try to look into this as last resort as we have quite a few AOSes and printers to add if we wanted to go that route.

I saw that some users are saying that re-indexing every day worked for them but we are doing so every weekend and this table is never updated so not sure that would work.

    Thanks,

    Julien

Reindexing is not relevant, since the SrsServers just holds setup information on which AX AOS can talk to what SSRS instance when a report is sent for rendering, and it only contains a handful of records.

Pär might be correct with his findings that the issue itself is related more to how AX talks to the reporting instance. It is definitely waiting for the Driver, your Printer server / spooler, or the Printer itself.

One way to troubleshoot this is to check the ReportServer DB's logs using the ExecutionLog views in the DB, which can tell when was a specific report initiated, how long did it take to fetch the data and prepare the rendering. If all figures are filled in then it is being sent to AX (if Screen is selected), or the print destination (e-mail/printer).

It would be interesting to know if when you experience the locking, are you getting an entry in the ReportServer logs, or not, for the user who initiated the printing.

Changing the printing pathing by moving the printers to your AOS might or might not give a resolution in your case, so it is better to still try to understand what is happening before and during such a locking.

    Thanks Vilmos.

I thought the same about the reindexing.

I will investigate the logs and come back to this thread with my findings next time I have the issue.

    Thanks,

    Julien

Any follow-up from this issue? I have the same issue and it appears the fetch to get the data is complete. Top listed issue is exactly the same and is for an intercompany order. Killing the blocker resumes the system to operation. Any next steps on how to investigate or a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone? Help with this? Block is still happening with the following blocker statement...

    (@P1 int,@P2 nvarchar(256))SELECT TOP 1 T1.SERVERID,T1.ISDEFAULTREPORTMODELSERVER,T1.SERVERURL,T1.ISDEFAULTREPORTLIBRARYSERVER,T1.AXAPTAREPORTFOLDER,T1.DESCRIPTION,T1.DATASOURCENAME,T1.REPORTMANAGERURL,T1.SERVERINSTANCE,T1.AOSID,T1.CONFIGURATIONID,T1.ISSHAREPOINTINTEGRATED,T1.RECVERSION,T1.RECID FROM SRSSERVERS T1 WHERE ((ISDEFAULTREPORTLIBRARYSERVER=@P1) AND (AOSID=@P2))
