Dyn365 PSA button open in MS project does not work

Hi,

I'm trying to get the button "open in MS project" to get to work. When i'm opening any project within PSA I can see this button. Also I have admin rights and have installed the MS project application. From the MS project application i can see all the PSA projects but for some reason when I click on the button it says the following;

This project is not linked to an MS Project file. Do you want to install the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Service Automation Add-in for Microsoft Project to use this feature?

Then you need to install the exe file.. I have done this many time but I get the same message over and over.. Hopefully somebody had this same problem and knows what to do

Thanks in advanced

Regards

Elco

    Hello Elco,

    I was able to repro the issue as well and getting same message when clicked on button - "Open in MS Project" -

    As per article - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/project-service/add-plan-work-microsoft-project the add-in should work if PSA solution version is higher than 3.4 and mine is 3.10. However, there are couple of important points that you would need to follow as well -

    1. The Dynamics 365 Project Service Automation Add-in for Microsoft Project is only compatible with Microsoft Project 2016 Professional Edition.
    2. Make sure that there are not multiple installation of add-ins. If there are more than 1 instance installed. Go to Control panel -> Programs and Features and look for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Service Automation Add-in for Microsoft Project to verify.
    3. Check and confirm that time setting is same on your machine and in CRM.
    4. You need to setup document management for this functionality to work. This link gives a high level overview of what is required: docs.microsoft.com/.../enable-sharepoint-document-management-specific-entities and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/set-up-dynamics-365-online-to-use-sharepoint-online
    5. To get the ‘Open in MS Project’ to work you need to -  a.) Start in MS Project -- > b.) Read the project into MS Project --> c.) Save the project to an online location e.g. SharePoint or OneDrive (you will get a message asking if you would like PSA to remember this location) --> d.) Once this is done, please try again to check if it works or not.

    Here is a blog that you can review as well - https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/theartformofcrm/posts/connecting-microsoft-project-to-dynamics-365-psa

    Let me know how it goes and if you are still seeing same issue.
