SOD Conflicts

Segregation of Duties Conflicts - We are looking to set up the segregation of duties conflict rules within AX 2012. I have identified the general activities that we do not want to users to have (your basics SOD matrix), but now have to define the duties that are allowed to perform them within DAX.  Does anyone have any suggestions or tools to identify the duties/roles within DAX?  This seems like a huge undertaking. Also, looking for general feedback on how others successfully defined SOD rules.  Thanks.

    RE: SOD Conflicts

    Hi Kamorga,

Take a look at below links related to SOD:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../hh556869.aspx

    technet.microsoft.com/.../hh556858.aspx

Also, for setting and maintaining security roles and duties in AX, security development tool is very helpful. If you don't have it, I would suggest you to install it. You can download it from Lifecycle services website.

Please let me know if you have further queries.

    thanks,

    Baber.

    RE: SOD Conflicts

    Hi kamorga,

The duties that are allowed are not maintained in the Seggregation of duties. You grant access to duties by including them in roles. The SOD functionality is intended to provide functionality where you want to minimize risk on possible fraud or other risks. So you can only setup conflicting duties.

    Notes:

    1) When roles do have privileges assigned, these are not checked as it is a segregation of DUTIES.

    2) When using users of type AD groups, the conflicting duties are not found if one use has two or more AD groups and in this way can have conflicting duties. It is checking it per role.
