Project worker reservation screen timing out

AX 2012: When I am trying to use the worker reservation function on a project, the screen hangs and takes an unacceptably long time to return data, often longer than 10 minutes.  When it does return data, some of the workers' names are repeated and some of the hours that are displayed make no sense.  For example, AX shows me > 101,000 hours for one person in one month.  I assume that AX is finding these records in the tables, and the long query times are due to AX having to sum all these records.  However, no one has done any mass loads of workers in the last few weeks, and only a handful have been added using the standard AX HR transactions.  Any tips for a functional person on diagnosing the problem would be appreciated since technical resources are scarce right now.

    Hi Howard,

Have you searched on Issue search for possible hotfixes? (https://fix.lcs.dynamics.com)

Do you have customizations or an add-on in this area?

I have not searched but will do that now.  We have a customized interface under development, but the developers have confirmed it is not far enough developed to have ever been tested.  They confirmed the code has never been executed or invoked.  We are proceeding to stop the AOS, clear the cache, and the re-start the AOS.  We also have a backup, and will consider restoring the database (both transactional and model) back to the day before this started happening.  I am still looking for other solutions before taking the restore approach.

The problem I reported has to do with the the transfer pricing set up between legal entities.  AX was taking a long time to display worker records and dramatically overstating hours because the system was finding a huge number of records in the database caused by duplicative configuration in the transfer pricing config.  However, this duplication is not apparent when you look at the config.

Before the problem was identified, specific workers were set up by name to be available to another legal entity other than their own. For example, fictitious worker Charles de Gaulle was an employee of the French legal entity and James Bond was an employee of the UK.  We set up transfer pricing for him to work on USA projects.  We also had configuration for all of France to be available to USA projects and to UK projects.  We had USA employees available to UK projects and France projects.

After deleting all this configuration and deleting the duplicated records in the database tables, we added back only a single line item for each legal entity: all of UK available to USA projects in the USA legal entity config, and all USA available to France projects in the France legal entity config.  Correspondingly all of France available to UK projects in the UK legal entity config (and as just stated, all of UK available to USA projects).  The results were what we were expecting from the beginning, and no records were duplicated.  Because all of UK was available to USA projects, and all of USA was available to France projects, this chaining made James Bond visible and selectable inside a France project.  Because all of France was available to UK projects, and all of UK was available to USA projects, this chaining made Charles de Gaulle visible and selectable inside a USA project.  Hours were displayed properly.  Solved (though only through trial and error and not because any documentation told us this).

    Dear Howard,

Thanks for sharing this experience, I have one question please, how many records you have before removing duplicate?
